Editorial Policy

Providing readers with access to quality materials in the collection

The collection "History of Science and Biography Studies" is an open-access electronic scientific professional edition. Website users are permitted to download, copy, distribute, print, link to the full text of articles in this collection without permission from the publisher or author / authors. This corresponds to the BOAI (Budapest Open Access Initiative) for open access. Copyrights for published material remain with the authors. The author is solely responsible for the content of the printed article and the accuracy of its results.

Orientation to cover a wide range of issues of historical science

The purpose of the collection is to promote the dissemination of the results of scientific research by both leading scientists and postgraduate students, PhD students and applicants for academic degrees and academic titles. The realization of this goal ensures coordination of scientific researches of experts and facilitates their actualization. The collection publishes the results of scientific research (scientific articles), review articles, discussion materials, reviews from various fields of historical science and biography, anniversary articles, obituaries, announcements of scientific events and more.

Support for continued publication activity

The priority of the collection is to ensure a stable regularity of new issues (published regularly at the end of each quarter).

Promoting the publication of quality publications and supporting the model of exemplary scientific ethics in publications

The electronic science professional edition supports the basic ethical requirements for the scientific publications of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These requirements set the basic standards of conduct and responsibilities of members of any professional scientific community in relation to each other and to the public. They also guarantee the right of every author to intellectual property. All persons involved in the publication process (editors, authors, and reviewers) should be guided by ethical principles in scientific publications. The Editorial Board and reviewers of the electronic scientific professional collection «History of Science and Biography Studies» review all the manuscripts submitted to the publication without prejudice, evaluating each one properly, regardless of race, religion, nationality or workplace of the author.

Ensuring the quality of the articles is an effective tool for its review

The rules for the preparation of articles for publication make it possible for any scholar to print articles if its meet the requirements for the quality of materials. Only up-to-date articles containing elements of scientific novelty and of practical importance are accepted for publication. The purpose of the control procedure for the articles accepted for electronic scientific publication is to: ensure that the materials meet the requirements of the scientific style of teaching; encouraging the responsibility of the authors of the publication for the novelty of the presented materials and the accuracy of citation; high scientific level of the submitted materials, its practical importance for the national and world scientific community.

Focusing authors' engagement with the Editorial Board on improving the quality of submitted articles

The peer review process involves working with internal journal experts who are recognized specialists in their respective fields of knowledge. For this purpose, in addition to members of the editorial board, a wide range of scholars is involved. The article is submitted into the collection only after its discussion at the Editorial Board meeting with positive expert review and support of the majority of Editorial Board members who are specialists in the same field of knowledge as the author of the article. A fully prepared edition of an electronic scientific professional publication is reviewed and recommended by the Academic Council of the National Scientific Agricultural Library of NAAS. In the case of reasoned refusal, the review and editorial decisions are provided to the authors in writing, which gives him the opportunity to revise the article or replace it with other material.

Combating biased citation

At submitting materials for consideration, the percentage of originality of the author's text that is submitted to the editorial board meeting when determining the possibility of placing the article in the collection is determined.

Prioritize the introduction of articles in the global information space

The collection contains innovative (exclusive) articles in Ukrainian and English (at the author's choice), not intended for publication in other publications. In order to ensure access of the scientific community to the authors' works, the texts of articles are published on the site of the publication and work is underway to include them in bibliographic and abstract databases.
