research work. Accordingly, UAAS, uniting in its structure 21 research institutes and
25 agricultural and other research stations, conducted applied research, the results of
which were introduced into production. The Natural and Agricultural Institutes of the
Academy of Sciences of the USSR carried out research in the fields of genetics,
breeding, microbiology, zoology, botany, the results of which formed the basis for
the development of sectoral research, and also introduced into agricultural
production.
The main motives of the processes of reorganization of agrarian science and
attempts to return it to the system of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR
are analyzed in details. The main factors of liquidation of UAAS are determined. In
particular, it is noted that the liquidation of UAAS is another experiment on branch
science, caused by political circumstances. An attempt to restore the department of
agricultural sciences meant the return of applied field research to the system of the
Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, which would have a number of positive
and negative manifestations. Thus, agricultural institutes would have a closer
connection with the institutions of the natural sciences, which certainly was a positive
factor in the development of agrarian science. At the same time, the academic
education of the agricultural scientific field had its advantages in coordinating
sectoral research work, and therefore, due to the dissolution of the UAAS, the
scientific institutions of the agricultural profile were again scattered.
In the dissertation research it is noted that only a year the Department of
Agricultural Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1962–1963)
existed, apparently, this was due to the beginning of the period of changes in
academic science. Accordingly, the institutions of the agrarian sector were
completely subordinated to the Ministry of Agriculture. However, this did not mean a
definitive cessation of research related to one way or another with the agricultural
sector.
The formation of institutions of natural and agricultural purposes in the structure
of UAS-AUAS-AS of the Ukrainian SSR played a significant role in the development
