Experimentally, the scientist was able to calculate the required amount of
nutrients contained in food, the human body can absorb in 1 day. Excessive
consumption of food products is harmful because the substances, that failed to
assimilate, are "ballast" and reduce human performance. The work of
Ivan Gorbachevskyi on this subject fully confirmed in further studies by scientists
from around the world and is reflected now in the dietology.
Despite the difficulties and obstacles, worked hard and achieved success and
recognition – from the 37 years associated with Karl University 26 years Professor
Gorbachevskyi headed the Department of biochemistry, also he was several times
elected Deccan of the medicinal faculty, the rector of the Czech University of Shula
in Prague.
Professor Gorbachevskyi taught a variety of themed items, namely:
chemistry, pharmacology, physiology, dietology, toxicology, general and organic
chemistry. Over time, the list of items has expanded and in 1887 to the above list
added food examination and forensic chemistry. On natural-mathematical
Department of the University, Gorbachevskyi led the courses of general, inorganic,
organic and physiological chemistry, chemistry of metals, chemistry of cyclic
compounds. Hard work and perseverance of Gorbachevskyi confirms the fact that
he lectured incredibly clean Czech language, which in no way gave the Ukrainian
origin of Professor.
Activities at the University revealed in a scientist also a considerable
pedagogical talent.
The result of such active and continuous activities of the Gorbachevskyi was
the creation of serious biochemical school and training thousands of physicians in
Prague. Gorbachevskyi has produced three generations of doctors and scientists.
Among his students were those who became the outstanding authority in the field of
medicinal chemistry. In particular, Professor Emmanuel Formanek (1869-1929),
Carlo Cherny (1871-1922), Antonin Gamzik (1878-1922), Octavian Wagner,
anton?n Richter, Karel Cacl, Yan Shulia.
