3 «Гвіанський проект» (1938 р.) у контексті американської політики щодо європейських політичних біженців повна стаття

Короткий огляд

У статті розглядається одна зі спроб практичної реалізації напрацювань американських науковців стосовно пошуку потенційної локації для розселення європейських політичних біженців. Аналітичні розробки здійснювалися у другій половині 1938 р. у руслі курсу Президента США Ф. Рузвельта стосовно активізації міжнародних зусиль для опіки над вигнанцями з Австрії та Німеччини. Економістами та географами було проведено теоретичне оцінювання поселенських можливостей різноманітних малозаселених куточків європейських колоніальних імперій та латиноамериканських країн. Серед таких програм були пропозиції Константина МакГваєра щодо розміщення втікачів від нацизму на території південноамериканських колоній Великої Британії, Франції та Нідерландів з перспективною надання новому утворенню державного суверенітету. На відміну від багатьох інших планів, ідеї МакГваєра знайшли підтримку у владних коридорах Лондона та Вашингтона. Для подальшого вивчення можливості реалізації «Гвіанського проекту» було створено спеціальну американсько-британську комісію.
