Summary

The purpose of the article is to cover the history of achievements of scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Academy), the most outstanding of which are scientific discoveries. The discoveries make fundamental changes of level of cognition and therefore have a global impact.

The relevance of this study increases in the year of a 100th anniversary of the creation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The discoveries of academic scholars of the 60-80s of the 20th century were analysed by the method of historical analysis. The connection of discoveries of Ukrainian scientists with the areas of scientific researches in the field of physics, materials science, chemistry, biology was revealed. Registered discoveries are created not only by separate scientists, but also by think tank whose names should not be forgotten.

Thus, for the period 1965–1990, 30 discoveries were created by scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Of them, 15 scientific discoveries were created in co-authorship with the scientific staff of the institutes of the Academy of Sciences USSR and one in co-authorship with German scholars.

Scientific discoveries were created in the most important areas of fundamental research. The most discoveries of this period were recorded in the field of physics, electronics and quantum electronics. At the time, the discoveries generated inventions that found their successful application in the industry. Registered discoveries are created as separate scientists, and as result of the research work of several scientists.

No significant achievements of world importance should be forgotten today. They should contribute to increasing the credibility of academic science and the authority of scholars and inventors in modern Ukraine. Also, the use of the results of scientific achievements, especially discoveries, has relevance in the time of innovation social development. The existing legal problem of recognition, registration and protection of scientific discovery in Ukraine needs further consideration and settlement.
