Summary

The article is devoted to the biography of Ukrainian scientist – professor Peter Yevgenovich Andrievsky. He is known to be a famous veterinarian and a biologist-bacteriologist. On the basis of the analysis of archival and other materials, the most important biographical data have been revealed. While studying at veterinary institute he was interested in investigating work. He sought to study unexplained or insufficiently researched issues of veterinary and bacteriological science. Established theoretical conclusions, scientific provisions for professor Andrievsky’s investigations have been covered by the author of article. In presented article there was proved that the results of scientific works seemed to be a pledge of successful struggle against animal diseases.

Scientific approaches of professor Andrievsky’s were used in his research activities in various scientific institutions of Russia, Ukraine and other European states. He was going to study a wide range of veterinary issues, developing the latest effective methods for controlling infectious diseases of domestic livestock. Materials of the article deal with a problem of professor’s comprehensive analysis of the state of production of vaccines against ill animals. The author pointed out that it’s important that a modern Ukrainian state should accept and use these investigations as a wealth of luggage of new knowledge.

The author coves some interesting directions of Andrievsky’s activity. He happened to participate in many scientific expeditions in Europe, Asia, Africa. Due to the successes in the treatment of infectious diseases of domestic livestock and new scientific discoveries in this field P.E. Andriyevsky became an outstanding world scientist. He was respected by his colleagues.

Professor P. Andrievsky is known to be the greatest lecture and teacher. As a representative of the teaching staff of the well-known scientific institutions, where P. Andriyevsky worked, in particular the Moscow and Kharkiv veterinary institutes, the Lviv Veterinary Academy, the University of Warsaw, the Ukrainian Free University, the Ukrainian Academy of Economics, and other universities, he promoted a pedagogical and research school of these organizations and demonstrated their concrete achievements in veterinary and microbiology. On the basis of the analysis of archival materials, the most important achievements have been dealt with in the article. That’s no doubt that they became an important part of the social and scientific-technological progress of mankind.
