Summary

For the first time the author has investigated the scientific and organizational activity of Mykola M. Hryshko as the chairman of the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. It is the predecessor of the modern National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Next year it will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The researcher revealed Mykola M. Hryshko’s scientific heritage in the formation and the first years of the functioning of the institution in 1946–1948. She paid attention on the problems of research, the encountered difficulties and ways to overcome them. The key achievements of the Department of Agricultural Sciences for this period are given. The systematization of the received factual material and experience of Mykola M. Hryshko’s research work in order to solve the priority problems of ensuring the needs of postwar agricultural science and experimental case in the late 1940’s to some extent contributed to the forecasting of agricultural research in the following decades.
