periods:
Soviet (1960–1991)
and
modern Ukrainian (since 1991 till now)
.
Furthermore, both historiographic periods differentiate groups by subjects and
topics. It primarily includes scientific summary papers describing history of
origination and subsequent establishment of agrobiologial science (allelopathy) in
60s of the 20th ‒ early 21st century in educational scientific centers and special
institutions; development of certain experimental areas studied by L.D. Yurchak;
data from bibliographic exploration, references in scientific papers etc. that
contained information on the scientist’s activities.
The analysis of reference base evidenced that the tasks set for the thesis were
implemented using published and non-published historical sources and materials
varying in terms of origin, features, and content. Search was made through 4
archival funds: the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine, M.M. Hryshko National
Botanic Garden of the NAS of Ukraine (the NBG), M.H. Holodnyi Institute of
Botanics of the NAS of Ukraine, the Institute of Agroecology and Natural
Resource Management of the National Academy of Agrarian Science of Ukraine
(the NAAS) where personal cases of L.D. Yurchak were studied and analyzed.
Furthermore, the funds of 4 libraries were examined: the National
Agricultural Library of the NAAS, V.I. Vernadskyi National Library of the NAS of
Ukraine, the State Scientific and Technical Library of Ukraine, the scientific
library of the M.M. Hryshko NBG and A.M. Hrodzynskyi room-museum at the
department of allelopathy of the M.M. Hryshko NBG, where a great majority of
L.D. Yurchak’s scientific papers are stored. The source base was represented by
scientific works of L.D. Yurchak studied and used to recreate the comprehensive
picture of scientific interests and contributions of the scientist. Memories of former
fellow students, colleagues, scientists from other scientific institutions that
L.D. Yurchak worked with were also highly valuable for this paper.
Reasonable methodic bases of scientific search, selection of approaches to
development of key study areas used to systematize the source base helped to
represent the materials sequentially and in a logically completed manner to ensure
the most accurate description of the scientist’s activities.
